In March 2026, I was invited to take part in a roundtable discussion at In Perspective by The Straitstimes, Singapore.
We discussed Singapore's EV journey up-to-date and what still needs to be done to increase the uptake of electric vehicles. In my opinion, Singapore is moving forward at the right pace when it comes to EV adoption. However, we agreed that some issues have yet to be tackled such as offering an integrated charging/booking system, availability of chargers, incentives, battery safety, fast charging and power grid constraints. Moreover, safety issues such as proper EV charging standards and illegal modifications have to be considered.
A video of the roundtable discussion was published on 14 April 2026.
I was joined by Lam Wee Shann (LTA), James Ng (BYD), Julian Kho (SGcarmart) and Tyron Tan (VoltBridge). The roundtable was moderated by Ms Shefali Rekhi. A big thank you to the Straitstimes for having me and all panellists for a fruitful engaging discussion!
